We’ve all heard the saying…
“People join people, not businesses.”
To a certain extent, this is exactly true. I’m not going to tell you that businesses don’t matter at all, but for the most part your opportunity, no matter how great, no matter what the product is just another business out there promoting themselves as the greatest biz op on the planet and it may be, but that isn’t what is going to drive traffic to your site or, more importantly, generate leads that want to sign up with you and your opportunity.

Yep, you are potentially the best thing to ever happen in terms of recuiting people into your business and your organization. You are also the biggest obstacle to your business as well.
First, I want you to understand that you are unique. There is no other person out there like you and the good news is that there doesn’t have to be because you are good enough! There is no need for you to go out there and develop some sort of slick, super-sales-guy persona, as a matter of fact you should only do that if you want to scare people away!
You probably aren’t into that, are you?
One of the biggest problems with the Internet today that you and all marketers must overcome is that perspective that many coming online have and that is the “everything is a scam” perspective.
I always get that question, “Is this a scam?” – I really want to tell them that, “Yes, I’m afraid it is a scam. Now give me your credit card info!”
Probably wouldn’t work.
What you are going to have to do – and I don’t care if you are recruiting people into your mlm biz or are building a team of Internet zombies – you must start developing a relationship with people, you must gain the respect and trust of folks looking for information.
You will also need to start developing that credibility and that must happen long before you actually become any kind of an expert.
But how do you get experience without having any experience? It’s a bit of a catch 22, I know, but it is possible.
I’m not saying that you have to show up and know everything. As a matter of fact, being “normal” is probably one of the things that will attract some folks. These are the people looking for other “real” and “normal” people. This is why I promote that whole just be yourself slogan.
People need to relate to you and while many will not, you are looking for those that will and be ready with content and information that these folks need and want.
How to Recruit People Into Your MLM Business: The Formula
So here is the sure fire method for recruiting people into your business.
- Create content that people are looking for – don’t forget your keyword research!
- Make sure that you deliver value with everything you create
- Provide information to people for free – find out what their problem is and give them the solution
- Be consistent
- Be patient
There are many different ways to create and deliver content. You can write articles, create videos, record audio files for .mp3 downloads, write eBooks or whatever it is that you are interested in. My advice is to pick one or two methods and jump into the fire!
Remember to be yourself. People need someone that they can relate to and you could be that person. Believe me, I’ve tried this both ways and my slick sales approach seldom worked, but my “home body, average joe” pitch works quite well, plus I don’t have a problem going to sleep at night just being me.
